Why did you choose to put your bully on a raw diet?

The main reason why we switched over to a raw diet was because Clyde kept getting sick from his kibble…(orijen was supposed to be one of the best kibbles on the market at the time) I’m talking diarrhea, vomiting, crazy skin allergies, eye gook…etc. We were going back and forth to the vet and everyone knows that’s never fun and beyond expensive. The vet recommend “the typical” Science Hill Diet…I asked the vet…”aren’t these horrible ingredients?” She replied: “well, it gets the job done and will harden his stool.” Right then and there I knew I had to properly educate myself for the sake of my dog’s health. So I googled a bunch of websites, watched YouTube tutorials, reached out to nutrition specialist and came across Petfooled on Netflix. I couldn’t believe how badly mislead I was by the pet industry. Every brand I ever gave to my dogs in the past…I never knew how bad, dangerous and unhealthy they were for them. (It’s actually scary) Well I’m glad I know now. Needless to say after 2 weeks of Clyde being raw feed…the diarrhea, vomiting and skin allergies were gone! Haven’t been to the vet since for Clyde being sick.

What benefits have you seen from a raw diet?

The main benefit of raw feeding is by far a healthier and happier dog. When dogs eat food that is biologically appropriate, they will absorb all the nutrients from their food making their immune system, digestive system, and other bodily functions stronger. This will pay off over time as your dog will need less veterinary care and will avoid contracting more serious diseases as they age. After learning the benefits of raw, and now seeing the results…I will never go back to kibble. Yes, kibbles biggest pro is that it’s convenient but Raw’s biggest pro is that it’s healthy. We will do whatever it takes for our fur baby to live a LONG happy and healthy life.

Just some of the physical benefits of a raw dog food diet can be as follows:

Cleaner teeth and fresh breath
Better weight control
Improved digestion
Shinier, healthier skin and coat
Reduction of allergy symptoms
Harder, smaller, less smelly stools
Increased mobility in older animals
More energy and stamina
Strengthened immune system
Improved liver, pancreatic and bowel health
Savings due to less trips to the vet

Has he been on a raw diet since a puppy?

He’s been on raw since he is 1!

What is one piece of advice you would give new bully owners who want to begin the raw diet?

Raw Feeding can definitely be intimidating but it’s worth the hassle. I would definitely say do your research and possibly find a pet nutritionist. Thanks to people like Sharon from @thebarkerskitchen, she made our learning experience easy and our Clydie boy healthy and safe. Sharon has helped us from the very beginning with meal prepping recipes. Any questions I have, she’s always right there to help us.

How long does it take you to prepare a meal for your bully?

We prep monthly to save time. I never really timed myself so I’m not exactly sure. Everything goes in our freezer and comes out the night before.

What is Clyde’s favorite raw recipe to eat?

Bison Oxtail

Liver/Heart Bison Blend

Bison Tongue

Bison Sirloin Tip Roast

1 Quail Egg

Organic Coconut Oil
